60-70% Clairette blanche & rose (1950s, 1960s), 25-30% Roussanne (2009-10), 0-10% Grenache blanc, purchased crop from 0.75ha on blue marl and fine sandy, stony soils at 200 metres on Les Hautes Rives above the River Aigues, hand harvested, fermentation starts in vat, at 1060 specific gravity into 4-year 228-litre oak cask 10 days, raised 5 months, lees stirred for 2 months, filtered, malo blocked, Cairanne Côtes du Rhône Villages until 2015, 3,800-4,000 b

2019 ()

fine yellow robe; peach fruit, soft aroma, has a little aniseed direction that helps, dried fruits, butter also. There are low-key oak notes. The palate springs out well, carries a fresh outer, a firm inner, has a firm grapey flavour. This is stout, for la table, has tang also. The Clairette rose gives a note of rose petal near the finish, joli that is. Harvested 10 September. There’s plenty here to involve the mind as well as the palate. 13.3°. 2027-28 Feb 2020

2018 ()

very fine yellow robe; the nose gives light citrus airs with grilling, soft white flowers, is a tender opening. The palate runs in cosy fashion, all on a restrained softness, with floral, lightly buttery notes, fruit such as nectarine present. There’s a hint of late grip, which holds it together as it ends. 14°. 4,000 b. 50% Clair, 30% Gren bl, 20% Rouss. To 2020 Mar 2019

2015 ()

fine yellow robe. The nose is alert, laced with some oak, carries a good centre of white peach and apricot. The palate picks up well from the nose, presents a supple richness with white plums in the flavour. There is a light note of infused tea such as camomile on the finish, aniseed - that allows some tidy grip to close it, with a small burst of oak. This has style. 13.5°. 3,800 b. 2019 May 2016
