100% Syrah (late 1970s) from central & southern zones (Saint-Désirat & Tournon, Mauves), 80% from Delas, 20% from Cave Saint-Désirat, destemmed, 3 week vinification, pumping overs, cap punching, aged 50% 2-year 228-litre oak casks, 50% large barrel 12-18 months, unfined, unfiltered, "drink with fillet of beef with wild girolle mushrooms", 7,200-20,000 b

2015 ()

(large barrel/casks) dark, full robe. The bouquet is rich and deep, is a generous opening based on black berry fruits which have a ripe insistence. The palate sets off on a shapely trail of black fruit with good ping in the bright tannins. This is well made, well balanced, modern, clean, and will go very well with roast beef, red meats, duck breast, game. The finish brings in some trim saltiness and menthol. 13°. 7,200 b. 2014 ()

(casks/barrel) dark red; the nose has a smoky, mulberry fruit make-up, a little sweet and savoury underlay, a note of licorice. The palate has a black cherry fruit flavour with some sweetness attached. It is quiet on the finish. It is close to ready: it is a simple St Jo for stews, casseroles. 13°. 7,200 b. 2019-20  Oct 2015

2013 ()

(casks) dark red. Has a touch sweet, scented, black berry juice aroma, also a prune ripeness. The palate is mild, bears supple fruit on the attack, raspberry in evidence. It ends on tight little knot of tannin. Reasonable, not arresting wine – it could have more dash and late palate grounding. 13°. 2019-20  Jan 2015


steady red robe. The nose shows a red berry fruit with a baked bread touch – shows more the southern zone thanks to its supple features, red fruits – this is sound. The palate continues well from the nose; there is a good mix of supple and grainy textures. It drinks well. There are late garrigue-southern moments – this is 2009 in the glass. A no fireworks wine, but sound and genuine. Has a  flint, silex style exit. To 2016  Oct 2012
